I'd have to say - yeah - the effects in 'Valiant' weren't too crash hot - they were good, especially the the view from the viewscreen of the jemmie bug, but when the Valiant is attacking the underside of the jemmie cruiser - you can REALLY see the matte-lines around the Valiant.

But the Valiant's death-scene was excellent.
And to torpedo the escape-pod's, that's like something Vader would do. "shivers"

I agree - the Valiant death scene was quite impressive and made up for the rest of the FX. I did think it was too convenient that one pod got away. Anyway, "Tears..." is still my unfavourite for FX.
