Can anyone shed some light on this. Enterprise-E's dedication plaque lists the Stardate 49027.5 Yet a contest at LCARScomnet claims 49827.5 as does James Dixon's files. Anyone know where the second date comes from?

Well, most likely, since it's only a difference in one digit (8/0), one is simply a misreading of the other.

Ah... I see, they probably thought it was the latter, because the Stardate for First Contact was 50893.5, and Geordi said they had been in space for about a year.

Almost a year... *thinks* There's just something messed up with the First Contact stardate.

The SciPubTech poster has 49827 I believe, and there is a real picture of the plaque which shows the same number somewhere. Remember, Encyclopedia I had the Excelsior at 8105.5, while II has it at 8205.5 (same with the Chronology). These might not be identical reproductions.
Also, why would O'Brian be saying "I'm sure they'll be building a new one soon" as late as stardate 49011 (Way of the Warrior)?

Well, since a ship isn't necessarily given a name until just before launching, it's possible that, when O'Brien said that, the decision had only recently been made to call the latest SovereignEnterprise, and he hadn't heard about it yet.

That or the Enterprise-E was originally named USS Yorktown and Miles didn't know about the switch...
