Well, I was watching the Voyager episode "Resolutions" today, and I noticed that when Kim fired a torpedo at the Antimatter pod that was ejected, the torpedo came from right behind the Antimatter eject ports. It could be that the torpedo was supposed to be the Antimatter pod, but the effect was clearly a torpedo.
Any thoughts? screencaps?

Yes, Voyager has two forward launchers, one aft, and a ventral one just behind the warp core ejection point.

They've only ever used one firing aft and model examination shows there's one. (Not that that's canon, but...)
And, so what if it's one incident? It's there.

What was the episode where Voyager is buying weapons!?! I'm sure it was season 4 - was it that one with the alien who claimed Seven assulted him?? He also played the Security officer in First Contact - anyway a blue swirly thing was launched from the airlock on the very forward part of the saucer section... tsk.
Also in Scorpion when the cargo bay was opened and the borg came out - they were WAY too small for that round opening - which is the starboard airlock... I presume that it should be the same size as the airlock on the E-D - seen in 11001001 and the E-A airlock seen in TMP and the DS9 airlocks!?!

The two forward and two aft tubes are built into the model in a clearly identifiable form. However, there are at least three instances where we see a torpedo fired from the ventral side of the ship as well:
1)"Parturition" - a single shot at the avian ship 2)"Resolutions" - a single shot at the Vidiian formation, also interpretable as the antimatter pod (even though Tubok asked for a torp) 3)"Alliances" - a multiple shot emerging aft from the underside of the ship
Under this overwhelming evidence I think we really could use a torp launcher down there!
Perhaps a rotary-launcher thing like the DS9 launchers, incapable of firing warp torps? Or a microtorp launcher? Since the thing isn't visible normally, it should be some sort of a deployable mount. Makes sense for it to be deployable, since it's prone to FOD when the ship lands.
The bow airlock seems like the obvious place to locate the "isokinetic cannon" in that Voyager episode whose name isn't worth memorizing. Far easier to install it there than to try to bolt it onto the outer hull and draw the power lines through the hull plating. Other possible locations would be the shuttlebay or the side airlocks, but the gun'd be of less tactical value there.
And the door size seems okay to me. We already are asked to assume a 4m deck height for the Voyager, and these doors *are* one deck high after all... Obviously, the doorway can't be identical to the TMP-era docking interfaces, but then again even the E-D ports aft of the torpedo launcher seemed larger than the TMP style. The doors of the Voyager could feature a "travel-pod-compatible" inner collar that is used when a small craft with that kind of docking adapter wants to dock, but is retracted to provide a larger doorway when not needed.
And if that docking port/airlock is supposed to be the entrance to a cargo bay, then it really makes sense for the doorway to be much bigger than a human being.

Yup, I'm great at formulating cool-sounding excuses, ain't I? Now if I could have a creative thought BEFORE somebody wrote it on a Trek script and aired it at my face...

Strange. I was pretty sure that the torps in "Resolutions" came from the dedicated aft launcher. I'm currently reviewing all of Voy anyway, so will check and try to find an explanantion.

Ahh but Timo - the the size of the 'deck' is about 4 m - the air lock size would be at least 3.5m diameter at the most...
the borg floating out of it are about 1m high then...
also - I would assume that the airlocks for the orbital pods etc would be kept the same - since we are seeing tech from that time being still used... the airlock on the side where the borg floated from is the airlock used in Caretaker to dock at DS9 - I think they just said - ahh we need a door for the cargo bay - that'll do -
plus - where is the big round hole for the cargo bay in seven's cargo bay!?!
I would have liked to have seen those fan doors underneath the saucer section open...
