I can't believe I did this one in one night. I found some very good references and decided to do a profile view of the BSG Viper. This would be the version from the Sci-Fi Channel remake.
 -

My only issue with it is I couldn't track down the correct font for all the markings. I used a similar font, but I suspect that they created a new one specifically for this purpose.

C&C welcome!

Very nice indeed. Any other views you'd like to do?

It looks very nice, especially with all those markings, but as far as I can tell, it's slightly too short and too tall.

Wait - is this the "old" Viper they end up using, or the "current" model that didn't fare so well?

This is the old Mark II Viper, old ship of Adama, not the Mark VII Viper. Mk VII is much more ugly [Smile]

It sure is: you ever see the unused design made for the BSG series that stalled in pre-production?

That one looks gooood.

Kazeite: It's not too short or tall. I basically traced it off a side-view render of the real deal. See here: http://www.starshipbuilder.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000002.html

Personally, I prefer this one over the unused design. But I agree that the Mark VII is ugly. Maybe it would look better with a good paint job.

Hm, I guess that my source is the one that is distorted... I didn't know about those renderings [Smile]

Oh well, good work, then. Keep it up.

And... what was the unused design? Do you have any sketches of it or smth?

Oooh, nice! Are other views in the pipeline? Please say yes.

True to form, I am now going to disagree with everyone in the universe and add that I actually liked the Mk. VIII too. Although not as much as the Mk. II.

Yes.... eventually.

For now, here's a look at some different paint jobs:

Camoflauge in space= goofy.

Nice renders though.

Shame the cylon ships suck so hard though.....
Mabye they'll make something cool once the series starts.

Well, if I did anything other than that particular camo pattern, some might not recognize it as a Russian paint job.

Did the top view tonight:

If camoflage is irrelevant in space, who's to say they can't have camoflage for fighting in an atmosphere? It's not as if having a three-tone paint job will make them more vulnerable to guided missiles launched from a frillion klicks away. They could paint the bloody things lime green if they wanted to.

Yes, I just resurrected an old thread, but it's MY old thread, so there! [Razz]

The first two are new paintjobs with slightly different markings that I just neglected to post here:

And this one was the result of a bit of nostalgia caused by CMT's reruns (I couldn't help myself):
