This design is what's known as an anal extraction which took a grand total of five minutes to put together. I wan't looking to re-invent the wheel.

I'm guessing that other ship's shoulder patches probably look very similar. Same colors... same use of a stylized view of the ship breaking the circle. However, I'd be open to the use of other views of the ship. In other words, some ships would be seen from the side or front... whichever angle is most distinctive.
I'm willing to bet that we'll see another Starfleet ship this season as well as her crew's uniform insignia.

nah i think there are probably a lot more fun variants, depending on the purpose of the ship and the origin of the name..
whos working in the art department these days?quite a few of those guys have been known for cool looking insignia im sure they wont pass up a chance to add some life to the designs.

We had a bare glimpse of one last season, when Hoshi is looking for dirt on Reed. She contacted some guy on another starship, and he definitely had a visibly different patch on his left arm. No real details could be extracted - but the colours were sure different.
