Placeholder. From TV Guide: "The approach of a powerful storm prompts Weir to order the evacuation of Atlantis, which gives a new enemy the opportunity to move in and claim its abandoned resources."
Note that this is part one of a two-episode arc, to be concluded in January with "The Eye".

I was out of town this weekend for family stuff. As I await "Endgame", here are notes for "The Storm", a decent first cliffhanger for the show...
-Teyla notes that Athos, her planet, was laid waste by the Wraith after they left. I wonder when they returned? IN any case, some of the Athosians are still thinking of returning.
-The first mainland crops (Where'd they get the seeds, anyway?) look promising, at least until the hurricane showed up.
-The Ancient database has records of a 20-30 year period for these storms. Is this from the time they were stuck there under Wraith attack, or from earlier surveys? How long was Atlantis here before the Wraith attacked, if at all? They mention however that this planet is mostly water, which supposedly explains the lack of abatement to the hurricane.
-I'm a little confused as to why they're using the rather hostile Manarians to hide with. (Well DUH, if they didn't then it wouldn't bite them in the ass, now, would it?) Even ten episodes in, they're sure to have at least a couple other places to hide by now, like the planet of kids. However, they did name-drop the Manarians prior to this episode - good on them.
-Sora's still hot. Damn hell yes.
-Zalenka seems to have lost most of his Czech accent... But it helps. And kudos to McKay for mentioning hurricane Hazel!
-I believe we now have our first post-pilot casualties on the show, of the Atlantis expidition. Hopefully they don't pull a Voyager on us with this...

Yup. The Genii are back. The Atlantis team had to evacuate the base because of a massive hurricane headed towards them. Interesting timing because of all the hurricanes hitting the southeast recently, but they didn't exactly plan it that way.
So, basically we end up with Sheppard loose on the base, Weir about to get shot, McKay cut up some, Teyla, Ford and Beckett stuck waiting out the storm in a jumper on the mainland, and the rest of the Atlantis team stuck on a "friendly" planet. The Genii are in control of Atlantis, but we don't know if it will survive because only 3 of 4 grounding stations have been disconnected/rerouted to charge the shields.
Interesting choice of Robert Davi as the Genii's military specialist. Anyone else keep thinking he's going to start singing in Italian a-la "Goonies"?
