As we all know there are twelve colonies of mankind in BSG, with Earth being the fabled 13th. There appear to be some differences in the names of the colonies between the original series and the new one, although not all the colonies have been named.
I think there was mention in the miniseries of a colony named Troy as well. Based on the Quarum meeting scenes in "Colonial Day", we might be able to figure out the names of some other colonies.
This webpage gives a list of colonies, but I'm not sure how accurate that list is, as it lists "Gemon" and "Sagitara" whereas the plaques in "Colonial Day" clearly show "Geminon" and "Sagitaron".

Some of my answers come from the ship registries at Sci-Fi's BSG site. For the names from the original, I looked to this site.
So...
code:
Zodiac Original BSG New BSG --------------------------------------------- Aries Aeries Aerilon Aquarius Aquaria Not Revealed Cancer Cancer Not Revealed Capricorn Caprica Caprica Gemini Gemini Geminon Leo Leo Not Revealed Libra Libra Libran Pisces Piscera Picon* Sagittarius Sagitara Sagitara* Scorpio Scorpia Scorpia Taurus Taura Tauron Virgo Virgon Virgon
To the best of my memory, I remember Aerilon, Caprica, Geminon, Picon, and Sagitara being mentioned in dialog (* Picon and Sagitara are not on the BSG ship site I linked to). Also, I could have sworn I saw somewhere that spelled Sagitara as Sagitera, but I'll be damned if I can find it.
Also, to add a little to the mess, Boomer once referred to Crashdown as "some refugee from Triton". I think Triton is probably a ship's name, but a friend of mine is insisting that its a lunar colony or something. He's trying to turn this into a discovery vs. Discovery issue, obviously.

So, in summation, the Twelve Colonies of Kobol are Aerilon, Aquaria, Canceron, Caprica, Gemenon, Leonis, Libran, Picon, Sagittaron, Scorpia, Tauron, and Virgon with Libran and Scorpia not yet making a canon appearance.

Baltar: "So, uh, tell me, are you from Arilon? You have a slight trace of an accent there." Valerii: "What? Oh, no. Troy." Baltar: "Troy. Troy, tell me, why is that familiar?" Valerii: "Mining settlement. The accident."
So, presumably, it wasn't on any of the colony worlds, or she would have mentioned which one. Probably on a moon or something. Perhaps the settlers were from Arilon. (Which I'm spelling that way because "Aries" doesn't have an "ae" in it. But, given the other spelling issues ((viz. "Gemenon", "Picon")), who knows?)

re: Troy, I think during the miniseries when its announced on the Colonial Heavy 798 that an attack has been launched and certain cities have been destroyed, some of the people in the crowd mention Troy as well.
re: silly, what kind of name is 'Sol System', eh? EH?

-------------------- Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.
