On November 17th, Florida should present the final count.

Whomever wins the Florida popular vote wins Florida, thereby the election.

If Gore loses Florida, he should concede graciously. If Bush loses, well, the same goes for him.

These lawsuits are ridiculous. If there have been instances where fraud has been used, or even intimidation, they'll come back to haunt the Republican party in the upcoming elections.

Regardless of outcome, I would like to see the FBI conduct an investigation in the Florida election, with a close eye on Jeb's participation (or lack thereof).

Let me close by finishing:

GORE IN 2004!!!! (Let's make Daddy and Dubya have something else in common -- only *one* term in office!!!)

Interesting. These so-called lawsuits are being filed by Democrat voters... AND the Gore campaign. I'm glad that you think Gore should concede upon the decision in Florida, and Gore himself has stated he will. But, his aides, particularly Daley(sp?), has said that even after Florida, it is NOT over, and that they were going to drag this on. And since Gore hasn't talked about it, no one knows just what he himself thinks.

I think Dailey is just being stubborn. I doubt he'll have any say in the matter *if* (see, I'm just optimistic, I've already got my "GORE 2004" bumpersticker...) Gore goes on TV and says, "well, I got the popular vote, but George W. Bush is the new President of the US, congrats on a hard fought campaign, see you in four years where I fully intend to kick you out of office..."

Hopefully, Gore will keep in mind the lesson learned by Republican Ellen Saurebrey:

In 1994, she ran against Democratic nominee Parris Glendenning for Governor of Maryland. She lost, but it was a close race. She called for a recount. Then another. She refused to let the matter drop.

In 1998, she ran against Glendenning again. The margin had increased by this time, and she lost again.

Keep in mind, Glendenning (Who is doing a wonderful job, BTW), was at one point #50 on the list of US Governors ... bottom of the list ...

Its widely accepted in Maryland that Saurebrey lost the election in '98 because she was a sore loser. Well, a very sore loser. A recount can be expected, and should be expected, in races as tight as this Presidential one, and also in the race in '94.

But there comes a time when you just gotta say, "okay, you won, see you in four years."

Oh, you and I both know that the only reason Al got the nod this cycle was that it was his turn. Mrs. Clinton will be up against "W" in 2004, and I bet that in the primaries, Al'l hardly get any votes.

If Hillary does run in 2004, Hell even I'd vote for Bush. I'd sneak down to somewhere in the US, just to keep that, erm, *cough* woman, from office.

I don't think Hillary will run for the Presidency in 2004. She said she'd stay in Senate for her full 6-year term (unlike Bush, who said he'd stay in office for his term as Governor, then left to run for President).

No, Gore is already being put into place as the next Democrat nominee -- look at every speech he's given recently, he's stressed that he's gotten the highest popular vote ...

"FACEDOWN OF THE CENTURY: BUSH V GORE '04!"'

Now, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is another story all together ...

I'd just plain old like to see anything other than a White, Southern United States-born, male. Anything else would really show your equality. Minorities and Females rule.

IIRC, H.W. Bush is from New Hampshire. Reagan was originally from Illinois, then California.

Okay then, "Southern-US accented". Someone from Maine or Massechusetts would be cool. Pronouncing 'Boston', 'Bahstan'. I'd listen in to the adresses then.

As an Upstate New Yorker, I'd like to point out something. New York State did NOT elect Hillary. New York City did.

Checking out the breakup, Lazio won widely upstate, but Hillary captured the NYC vote. As someone who has been shafted by NYC too often, I am moving. People wonder why NYS economy is going down.

I'd like to add something-I think the Democratic Party can find a better candidate than Al Gore for 2004. Like Bill Bradley- a bit of a liberal, but at least he has integrity.

Ultra: Er... You just described John F. Kennedy... :-)

Just to be fair, let's make sure the next president is a black Jewish woman w/ a physical disability. That'll show everyone.

Oh, and she has to have bad hair.

Ah, the Kennedys ... as much the Democratic political party as the Bush's are the Republicans ...

And I'm proud to say a Kennedy will be governor of Maryland in 2 years!
