I think the most hilarious thing I ever saw on that show was when, during that place-the-peg-on-the-place bit, the host said "Newfoundand" and it sounded like "New Finland" and the poor kit dropped the marker in the Caribbean somewhere...

I'd like to put my sister on that gameshow. Today, I asked her to name the continents, and she tried to pass North, South, East, and West America as continents, as well as Texas. I am going to buy her a frickin' globe. I think that she is so ignorant that she could care less about anything that doesn't occur within two feet of her own head.

That seems to be a common trait among younger teens nowadays unfortunately.

Burj Dubai.

It sort of looks vaguely Lantean. I wonder how tall the central spire of a Lantean city-ship is. (Or how long, depending how you want to look at it...)

It's also a common trait to say "could care less" when what you actually mean is the exact opposite.

I will kill all people who do this.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

This definitely doesn't deserve it's own thread, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

Heh that's great. I remember the cookie samplers...they don't go in happy meals anymore. We don't even have them, at least at my store. And the happy meals don't come in boxes anymore, either, except during special promotions (like the Clone Wars thing). And the toys suck now and you can have healthy food like apple slices and milk instead of fries and a soda...

*turns back the tide of nostalgia with some effort* Geez, how does anyone over 40 deal with this kind of thing?? [Razz]

Oh, and... Tlhingan HoL != Jewish.

So, as I was reading through the posts in the ST XI forum at Trek BBS, I found a topic, and two posts in particular, that evoke some...recent memories of a dear friend of ours.

Voilla et voilla.

Seems he was nice enough to condense them for our reading pleasure over here though. I just thought this was a tad bit interesting, but definitely not new thread material.

Actually, reading a history thread over there, I was reminded of "E", by an ex-poster named MajorBarcalow. Funny fellow he was, from what I've seen. Socially mal-adjusted, that's for sure. Has Flare ever been "blessed" with someone like him?

Here are some of the Major's finest works.

I don't know about someone "like" Major Barcalow, but I think we had Major Barcalow himself for a while, didn't we?

I don't think we've ever had Major Barcalow grace us with his presence, but we did have Mountain Man. And Red Quacker. And DARKSTAR....

Mountain Man took the whole jar of crazy pills before posting.

Okay, so it looks like maybe Barcalow didn't post here. But it appears that people here frequently linked to his posts at TrekBBS, which must be why the name was so familiar. Looks like he was a byword for "crazy" for a while, too, despite being fake.

And my searching also turned up the fact that, even though DARKSTAR is also now a synonym for "nutter", back when he stopped posting everyone was all "Oh no, come back, we're sorry we mocked you!" Which I find odd.

(I also came across one of those old "never-ending story" threads. That was interesting. I'd forgotten them.)

Oh, gods. You had Red Quacker? I remember him from back when I posted at TrekBBS. Which hasn't been for, like, six years now.
