I once read an article in a space and astronomy magazine that jokingly refered to the Great Martian Monster, or something to that effect. They listed the relatively large number of American and Russian probes that have been lost while traveling to Mars and mentioned the joke that there must be some sort of monster out there eating them. Of course we all know that the Martians have been destroying our probes for years to prevent us from finding out about their plot to conquer earth.

Why is this even in the Flameboard? It's not like we have any loonies to start raving about how this is the price Mankind will to pay for Daring to Pierce the Crystal Spheres of the Firmament of Creation, or whatever. Unless Wizartist wants to have a go. . . 8)

Just look in the sky and realize how impressive it is that anything at all makes it safely to that tiny red dot in the sky, let alone land on it safely and drive around for a few years.

I take offense to this article and thread, I and my siblings had nothing to do with the lander crashing, we had all agreed to just stand still and let it land, no one was to think any sudden thoughts in the thetabands or anything. I just stood there gaping as it knocked over my birdbath. Took my sis ten minutes to stop laughing.

We ALL know it was actually a photo of the Loch Ness Monster using technology stolen from Atlantis that shot down the probe. That is the price we pay for Daring to Topple the Corrupt Regime of the Martians who were Uplifted by the Great Monolith.
Will that do LEE?

Mars is a terrible planet and this money would be better spent on research towards providing me with a robot body.

-------------------- Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.
