I would thing the head would be off the ready room, like Picard's. Otherwise, the captina has to walk out onto the bridge, and everyone sees her go in to use the toilet...

Maybe they haven't perfected air fresheneres by the 24th century. Experience on the Galaxy-class made them put a short corridor between bridge and head.

Hey, I just watched the episode again and noticed something in the Astrometrics Lab; a new Alpha Quadrent map! I also saw it on Lineage.

I had to resurrect this thing because I noticed something new about the Deck one layou ton Voyager. It's not big, but it's there.
In regards to the door to the port of the MSD on the back wall of the bridge, I think it's been well established that there is a curving hallway there that goes to the aft portion of deck one. Well, in "Work Force, we hear a door opening back there before the Doc walks in.
So the little curve dead-ends into a door. The door opens and you can probably only turn right and walk down the hall to the back of deck one. This hall way should have access to the conference lounge and the Captain's head/ready room. There should also be access to the deck one life boats and a ramp to deck 2.
Of course, "Shattered" seemingly established that there is no ramp...
Anyway...

Maybe when the Mission Pack for Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force, we can see what the rest of Deck 1 is suppose to look like since it has a tour mode of all 15 decks.

With that expansion pack out, we can poke at every deck design problem there's been throughout the series. I only hope EVERY door can be opened.

The door has been heard on several occasions. The only real question is why the door is all the way back there, instead of matching the stbd turbo door and giving the bridge a sense of symmetry.

What sort of a door is it? Can one identify it by the sound as a) a cabin door or b) a turbolift door or c) a cargo bay/holodeck door?
Obviously, there is just one turbolift shaft coming up to deck 1, with the upper end and the side alcove for the spare cab visible from outside (twin side-by-side shafts wouldn't make much sense, now would they?). But there's nothing to say the shaft couldn't have two or three doors in it on deck 1. One to the bridge, accessible when the lift is in the "side alcove" closest to the bridge. And then one to the curving corridor, and another one to the corridor from the Ready Room, both accessible when the lift is at the upper end of the actual shaft (in the position more aft and to starboard of the bridge than the "alcove"). People could be getting out of the lift at that station, instead of riding the remaining two-three meters to the bridge, for various reasons arising from the dark bowels of their minds...
Or what about this arrangement? The bridge has four main exits: the direct access to turbolift, the doors to Ready Room and Briefing Room, and the curving corridor that leads to the aft part of the deck and to the alternate turbolift doors. In addition, there can be Jeffries tube hatches. The Briefing Room has two exits: to the bridge, and to a curving corridor that actually ramps down to deck 2. The Ready Room has the same two exits: to the bridge, and to a curving corridor that ramps down, AND features a side door for access to Captain's Head. We don't perceive the ramping down in "Shattered" because a) artificial gravity allowed the builders to do it so that it doesn't look like a ramp or b) because there was a ramp between two doors, and the episode was cut so that we mistook the two doors for one.

It's a "swoosh door" like a turbo lift/standard door. I think at least part of the corridor that leads to the aft part of the deck, if not all of it, has to go straight back. It looks like there's an airlock or EVA hatch back there from the MSD. As far as a ramp down, I'd guess there is one somewhere.
Man, it'd be nice if the creators hadn't farked up the sets so badly in "Shattered".

There is an airlock on Deck 01, look closely at the aft end of the Voyager model; it looks like a cargo bay type door.
