Greetings all.. this is only in creativity because its something ive worked very hard on.
The Trekker's Galactopedia.
This is an all inclusive guide to the non-canon of Star Trek. In the style of the Star Trek encyclopedia, cataloguing all of the thousands of entries made possible if you acknowledge all material, no matter how obscure. The only problem: it will take me forever.
I was wondering if this is anyone elses cup of tea, because its bizarre work, reading and writing in entries.
I would propose that if someone wishes to help me, we join forces and call it the Galactopedia Project. To help you must: a) give a crap about the non-canon. this is all about making pieces fit, so if you dont particularly like dealing with non-canon data or giving it credence, then this wont work. I'm trying to streamline all facets of trek history, and maybe if i can explaining some of the inconsistencies created. b) give a crap about sourcing data correctly. were not maknig stuff up and passing it off as fact.. were referencing a large bibliography of info.
how to work it: a) we all work on entries, and communicate on their accuracy and sourcing. b) we post it on a common website. ownership of the galactopedia and its layout remain under my control. decisions about the content remain under my control. partners may post duplicates of the galactopedia, as long as partnership data is displayed. all partners will in turn be displayed on my site. i retain all creative control of information presented on my site, although partner mirrors may differ. c) we share graphics, with credit where credit is due, in perpetuity (meaning if you are an inactive galactopedia partner, my graphics continue to be credited.

(oh right, I was going to respond to this thread)
Well, I'll help ya, Mike. But the work will go slower than a Denebian Slime Devil's shit traveling up hill in a head wind.
Seriously though, any assistance in the speculative Trek I can offer is at your disposal

sweet. basically im going to post everything i have on a website (which i have yet to sign up for).. then Galactopedia partenrs will share the password and add updated entries that i havent written yet. there will be a logfile that we will make a note of every entry we write to avoid doubling up things..
since i dont even have it up yet this will be within the next month anyway

Well, I'd like to help too, but I'd probably be like OnToMars in that I'd be going superslow. It usually takes me a while to get things done. Work pays off in the long run, but procrastination pays off today

Well, thats about my speed.. ive been on this 5 years and i just have a big pile of messy html.
All i would really need you guys to do would be to flip through it every once in a while, and fill out blank entries or add entries if you read a book or watch a show i havent done yet.
and suddenly i feel like re-formatting the whole thing in tables... life just got hard..

I'm very interested. But English isn't my mother tongue, so I'm rather interested in doing a German version/translation of it.

That sounds like a good plan too.. i think your site is great too, and easy to read despite your language concern.
*momentum builds* but needs to wait til i buy a domain.. maybe in a week...

Count me in, too, Captain! This is just up my alley... I actually started something similar to this years ago...never got that far, still have the entries somewhere. Mostly stuff from TOS novels...
I might not be able to contribute much, maybe a little from time to time, but I could be like . . . one of your checkers - making sure that the info doesn't conflict with any other sources or even be your proofreader?
Also, are you going to include info from email sims like Enterprise-F or Yami no Korin? I'm just wondering 'cause I could get some info from those and others to add if you like? Let me know. What's the worst you could say? "Yes"!!!!

Use Angelfire to post the media, like pictures and stuff. For free, they give ya 50 mb space. That's what I am doing with my website.
