Goddammit, someone really needs to take the Orb of Ultimate Evil away from the Sci-Fi Channel.

This is kind of silly. "The future of Stargate is in question today," as the spinoff is renewed and apparently MGM draws enough eyeballs to the property to make a sequel to a twelve year old movie viable.

What what what WHAT!?! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think we knew this was sort of coming but didn't want to acknowledge it. The cost of paying the same established actors after 10 years is too much. They should have renamed it Stargate Command... but maybe they had their reasons not to.
Bring on a movie!!
They better wrap the series up properly!
I honestly think that torrents make an impact on the show's ratings too.
If they wanted to look at the 'search stats' or 'downloads' of Stargate each week - they'd see on some (bIg Sites On tHis Uh, NeT) that its at the top.

Isohunt. *looks around* Nope, nothing. ISOHUNT!!! Hmm. Momento, por favor. *goes into bathroom, looks in mirror* Isohunt, Isohunt, Isohunt, Isohunt, Isohunt! *Tony Todd fails to appear* I mean, really, do we expect the MPAA to leap into action, shouting "A critically-challenged Australian has just uttered the name of the Site That Shall Not Be Named on a website! Quick, we must stop this!"
I'd never even heard of the place before I looked it up just now. And based on the amount of heat it's getting, I'm likely to avoid it like the plague, and so should everyone else. And, stay in school, kids.

NOOOOO!!! Where will I get my weekly dose of the word "Indeed"?
Honestly, I'm not really suprised. I'd been expecting it to get cancelled since season six, a.k.a. "That year without Daniel". To me, it was almost like Sci-Fi was channeling the Dread Pirate Roberts. "Good night, sleep well, most likely cancel you in the morning."
So when do we screw up Devlin's plans and get an SG-1 movie?

Probably pretty soon. SG-1 is still insanely popular in Europe, and I doubt they'll be able to properly finish the Ori storyline by the end of this year. So, I'm gonna bet on their doing a series of telemovies (shades of "200" and "Farscape" here) that will close everything off.

Well lets hope BSG doesn't suffer the same fate.
"Yeah..uh..hi BSG guys. I just wanted to let you know we won't be needing anymore episodes from you..ah..we just feel your intriguing storyline, strong characters, and amazing special effects just don't represent the kind of sci-fi we want to show. But hey, don't forget the Sci-Fi orginal movie "Dinocroc vs. Re-animator" starring Jeffrey Combs this Saturday night."

Hope is NOT lost. In a folow-up article, an Executive Producer says:
"As far as the future I can't comment yet because nothing has been confirmed," Cooper said. "What we want to emphasize is that the franchise is not dying. SG-1 will go on in some way. We're just not ready to announce how."

Maybe they'll get JMS to take over... Or make it an online RPG... Or make a bunch of tele-movies (each one far worse than the last with less budget and no original cast)... Or make an animated series... Or make a seroes of popular (but basicly bad) movies that stroke the actor's egos and allow them "creative input"... Or they'll just rush the rest of the season into some giant super showdown that resolves the war but ends on a low point as everyone goes their seperate ways...
