Okay, so far I really like the way that season nine is shaping up. But I mainly wanted to comment that I've come up with what I think is an excellent analogy for the Ori (I admit I had to look up the spelling on SciFi.com):

These guys are evil alien Jehovah's Witnesses! [Wink]

I'm glad their new villains aren't steeped in the Arthurian stuff. Though what was the point of all of it, then? Why did Merlin have that communication thingy? Was it a very old invention that both groups had, or was there some contact going on, or was he in fact an evil Ancient?

Things went badly for Daniel and Vala's hosts.

I liked how they destroyed the device.

"These guys are evil alien Jehovah's Witnesses!"

More like evil alien Inquisitors.

(Not that there are any other kind.)

I have to admit I am very disappointed in the direction they are taking. Once they deal with these ancients, will there be an Even More Ancient group that will pop up? Did I miss it or did the first hood call prong-boy Lucer? (as in a play on Lucifer)

Simon: When you say "evil Ancient", do you mean the Altera, Earth's Ancients, who are accused of being "evil"? Because, remember, he was one of the ones who went with Atlantis to the Pegasus Galaxy, and later returned. So, if you meant that he was one of the pah wraiths Ori, it would mean he was living among the Altera without their knowing it (or caring, anyway).

I think you may have lost me. I guess I'm still confused about the timeline. Basically, I'm wondering if the communication device was some old time Ancient device, as seems likely, and therefore was on both Earth and Distant Wherever because their long lost ancestors had them, or if it is a more modern invention, and its presence at both locations might say something about good/evil Ancient relations. Did Merlin just have it because it was a common thing to have, in other words, or might the fact that he had it mean something more?

But here I'm getting into speculation about things not explored in the show yet.

Personally, I'm getting a deep B5 vibe from the whole situation. Ascended beings who have a difference of opinion of how to guide the younger races, etc.....

Being a (displaced) Southern boy myself, it seemed to me like Mitchell was acting and talking like he was from the South. (Much more realistically than that Hollywood Southern speak I'm hearing in the Dukes of Hazzard movie promos. *retch*)

Okay, I swear I thought the Doci (prong-boy) was Jeremy Irons, but it was someone I haven't heard of - Julian Sands.

And where is Carter?

OK, I've really enjoyed the first 3 episodes of SG1 season 9. Actually I just finished watching episode 3 - and it's left me all jittery/uneasy! Well done to the show!

Firstly, can someone explain some things to me?

1. What was the point of the Arthurian stuff, except to give the Milky Way a new name - "Avalon" and introduce some more Ancient history.

The Ancients now have another name - The Alteans - weren't they also called the Lanteans?

So by ep 2 they've ditched the Authurian stuff and have introduced another big bad.

The Ancients came from another Galaxy to Milkyway/Avalon (later on they went to Pegasus galaxy) I don't know if they went to Othala (Asguard galaxy).

The Ori are also the same race as the Ancients?
They stayed behind?
SOME? Ascended like SOME of the Ancients?
The Ori are the firey type beings.
The priors are Ori-inhabited humans?

Are the HUMANS there HUMANS like in the Milky way or like the descendents of Ancients - like in the Pegasus galaxy: Tayla etc.

The Priors look a cross between Human and Wraith!

Why don't they just set the Ori against the Wraith! [Smile]

Where are the Furlings!?! [Smile]

That is all.

Thanks,

Andrew

P.S. Where did they ring-transport up to? Into a ship? Did anyone notice that the rings looked different?

I think what they said was that the Priors were advanced humans, much the same as Nirrti was trying to create.

This begs the question: Do the Ori now know about the Pegasus Galaxy as well?

Are the Priors and the others Human though or just descendents of unascended Ori? (Just going back to one of my questions).

The Furlings will never show up. Whenever someone asks the F question at conventions, the writers basically just shake their heads and move on.

The Furlings were whipped up by the original batch of writers, who are basically gone now; pretty much everyone who followed have no idea how to make it work without people sniggering all the time. So they're not going to bother. [Smile]

It's possible that the modifications to the Pegasus gate also had something to do with making sure the Ori can't dial that galaxy.. But that's out of nowhere.
