LOL sorry silly title but the thread is serouse.
exactly how do borg pilot their ships? in "q-who" and "best of both worlds"-borg seem to stand in their alcove and guide it using their collective consciounse. it seems the only reason the borg would leave from their alcoves for maintanece, assimilation, research, adding power nodes.yadda yadda yadda but alot of the main controls such as weapons and others are done by interfacing with the cube.
later in voyager--it seems the borg ships have more panels and consoles that weren't set up for research or maintaince.
the borg seem to have a viewscreen monitor, a weapon monitor, sheild monitor and engine station like any normal ship-are these systems backup systems?
one wierd sequence was in the beginning of "Dark Frontier" a drone had to be notified of a ship and that drone had to take a leisurely walk to some viewscreen and look at voyager-----the whole process seemed quite out of place with what we expect of the borg and quite inefficient--
all and all-the borg SUDDENLY seem to run a starship like any other crew.

Seven Of Nine made a course correction with the blink of an eye in "Scorpion", standing right on the floor, so Voyager does think of that. The displaying of Voyager on a screen was for dramatic effect, as well you know.

The more you show a major villian that's supposed to be a large threat, the more you learn about their weaknesses. Also more you see them the more there mistakes they can show. Unimatrix Zero is crap even though everyone in the production crew on Voyager liked it. They're just lazy don't give a crap about us, just to boost the ratings that's all.
(if you haven't noticed I hate Voyager, I just watch it because its the only Trek show on left)

Regarding the way the Drones acted in "Q Who" and "BoBW":
In the former episode, we didn't really see the Borg flying their ship. All we got was interior feed from a big cavity inside the ship, function unknown, during which the ship did not maneuver. We got the same sort of visual feed in "Scorpion".
In the latter TNG episode, the Borg did have a "command table" of some sort for maneuvering and battle management, with a holodisplay, and with Locutus and other Borg standing around it, not in their alcoves. More of this was seen in "Emissary".
One might say that the Borg stay in their alcoves only when the ship is relatively idle and the specialized duties of these Drones are not needed. Riker's away team in "Q Who?" hit some sort of a nursery area, undamaged by the fire from the Enterprise, so it was natural for the Drones there to be largely dormant.
