I prefer the uncluttered look of the movie era ships; also, like Shik, prefer the smaller ships, for the same reasons.

YOWZERS!

[Eek!] That's and impressive list Magna Ultrus.

I agree that the movie era ships do look more realistic than the series. I like the Galaxy-class most because well, I grew up with it for seven years ('88-'95). It's big and is powerful - far more powerful than we've ever been led to believe. It is a space hotel, but it is a fighting space hotel, with everything you need and plently of room for your family to come along.

I really do wish that TNG had had many more

BIG

battle scenes to show off the Galaxy's firepower . . . but noooooooo: we had to wait until season 6 of DS9! [Frown]

I've always liked the Miranda. The ship had the whole "workhorse" look to it, and it seemed capable of holding its own against the "superior" Constitution.

I also like the Miranda's next of kin, the Nebula-class. These ships just have that utilitarian look to them with their modules and underslung nacelles.

The Centaur isn't that bad either. Long nacelles always seem to look good. I'm sure with a proper paint scheme, she'd shine as the Miranda of the Excelsior style. For some reason, I think a four nacelled version of this ship, similar to the Constellation, would look very elegant (the Constellation is nice, but seems a little stubby).

Hey Captain Mike: You got schematics for all those ships, by any chance?

That's my master list of starship classes.. basically i am researching them one by one to find their source and if there is a schematic or not.. but many of them only exist as names, such as the Encyclopedia ships classes and ones from the LUG RPG book... im working, slowly but surely

Words cannot describe how sick I am of looking at Mirandas and Excelsiors.

to you, or anyone who might know: did we ever find out the provenance of the bizarre non-starship looking outlines of the Federation Starship Recognition Chart? Frobisher, Nordenskjold, etc? I'll try to scan them when i get the damn thing working again...
