Or injuction, or conjugation, or whatever that word is. So again the planets are sweeping out their epic arcs into mystical alignments and familiar configurations. And with them the long forgotten gathering of the NWUS sons and daughters of Flare may finally occur. Like in December. Like in late December. Like my sister and I will be driving up to Washington to visit the grandparents (in the fun lovin', dirty soundin', but clean livin' town of Sequim, WA) for Xmas around December 20th and departing around the 27th if we all wanted to get together and have, like, beers (or root beers) (or bottled waters) (or perhaps even some of them fine coffee beverages your cold and damp region is so fond of leveraging on the rest of us). Would folks be interested in this at all? Could there be pooty? And what about pleh? It could be fun.

I'll endeavor to make any passes as un-icky as possible. I can't speak for Simon, however. (Who I'm hoping might make a rare appearance)

I suspect that Seattle would be a nice central spot to meet. I realize that Sequim and PA are the spots farthest from the bright center of the universe and all, and while Seattle isn't exactly geographically centered, folks probably know the town, and there's all sorts of beverage options. We can all sit around and talk about how cool Sleater Kinney is and thumb our noses at the colorful and assymetric Jimi Hendix Museum. Who knows a good pub in Seattle? Or a restaurant. We could be ultra nerdy and make it the Space Needle, but that'd be, like, testing the limits. No, I think a pub sounds like a good bet. With the food and the beverages. Everyone's over 21, are they not?

Truth is, that I don't know, maybe y'all think Olympia would be better? I don't know. When you all come to SF, I'll take you on the Star Fleet to-be tour (using Reverend's map), but until then, you know the area far better than I do. I just think it'd be fun or amusing or something to meet each other face to face, like those dirty, dirty British Flareites.

This is me soliciting suggestions for cool Seattle Pubs/Bars.

*looks at LOA sadly* I'd kinda like to avoid chains or franchises. This is a Seattle (okay, PNW) thing, so let's keep it local, eh?

Well, there the J&M down in Pioneer Square. It's something of a classic... I know there are several in the U District, but I've been out of touch there for a while and would be happy to ask my friends who live in that area... There was a microbrewery in Fremont, just across the bridge, but I don't know if it's still there... And there are always places down closer to the sports arenas, but I don't know what's good in that area. My favorite restaurant around that part of town (Umberto's) closed many years ago... And there are certainly some places on Broadway, too...

For restaurants, there's Cutter's, just North of the Pike Place Market. Has a nice bar, good food, but a little pricey... I can't be 100% certain it's survived the tides of time, but there was a nice Italian place near Pioneer Square called Trattoria Michelli, that also had a nice bar... I don't know how y'all feel about ethnic/regional food, but the Wild Ginger has excellent Asian cuisine and Costas is an awesome Greek restaurant...

If you want places I frequet when I'm in town, they're mostly on Bainbridge Island (the old hometown), like San Carlos or the Harbor Pub, but one of my regular Seattle haunts (if you don't mind classic -- albeit quite good -- diner fare) is the 5 Spot on Queen Anne Hill. My friend Matt's a waiter there.

Calgary to Seattle.

I could see the Hitmen play the Thunderbirds.

Probably not.

But it's so... generic. The food isn't even very good. If you're in a franchise mood, you could at least go for one that started in Seattle, like Red Robin or The Old Spaghetti Factory. Jeez...

Hm... Hooters has a nice bar, though. Maybe gather one place for food and conversation, then adjourn to Hooters for after-dinner drinks and noisy fun?

I am so up for parties.

But.

I would probably not survive the trip, because the Big City scares me. Plus I am boring. "Let's all go to the bookstores, of which Seattle has many!" This is all I've got.

I did manage to drive to Bellevue, so as to see Alien on Halloween, though I had other people in the car to guide me, and traffic was surprisingly light. Then I got lost in Issaquah. (For donuts!) I kind of know where Valve HQ is. And that's all I've got, for real this time.

(Mike Doughty is going to be in Seattle on the 18th! Oh, if only.)

Going to Red Robin would be a great irony.
