Thank you Lee, I'm going to have nightmares for the rest of the week.

I don't know about other universities, but I just plug my laptop to the ethernet cable and just surf online. It also helps to have I guess either Windows 2000 or XP Professional. No configurations or setting up a university account.

Ahh. So, this ethernet cable, does it follow you around? Or are your halls of residence connected up to the university LAN? Because that's not really common practise here. Often because Halls of Residence are a couple of miles away from the main university site. And because Britain as a whole is only just now getting on the broadband wagon.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

Liam: Yes, school housing is usually connected to the school's LAN. That's how I'm accessing the 'net right now.

Lee: It's [email protected]. Or just click on the 'email me' icon on this post. And my number here is 01273 246814.

Michael: Sure, there was a laptop I could've brought -- if I wanted to carry an extra 15 pounds and have it possibly get stolen. Besides, I didn't come here so I can be online all the time.

I was going to post a comment about university-provided net access, but you people have scared me off.

I'll just... be going now.

Each dormroom has at least two ethernet wall plugs for two computers... at T1 speeds. Anyone off the street can just go to the library or anywhere and plug in a laptop and just surf online... unless they have Windows 95 or 98SE.
