Well to get back to a few earlier remarks, here's my theory of the mirror universe:
The mirror universe is not a timeline that has originated from our own. It existed, and always will exist, alongside our timeline. It is always (or at least most of the time) the exact opposite of our timeline, within the rules of physics (and budget, and viewers).
